JRC: biobasierte und biologisch abbaubare Kunststoffe machen rund 0,5 % der weltweiten Kunststoffproduktion aus — Kapazität von 2,3 Mio. t soll bis 2030 auf rund 4,7 Mio. t steigen, Herstellung 1,5- bis 2-mal teurer

Die Gemeinsame Forschungsstelle der Europäischen Kommission (JRC) stellte am 3. März 2026 ihr Policy Brief „Bio-based plastics in a sustainable and circular bioeconomy“ vor. Danach machten biobasierte und biologisch abbaubare Kunststoffe 2025 rund 0,5 % der weltweiten Kunststoffproduktion von über 431 Mio. t pro Jahr aus; ihre Verbreitung bremsen technologische Reife, Kosten und nachhaltige Rohstoffbeschaffung.
