Overview

WHAT THE STANDARD COVERS. We read the text of the standard in the iTeh sample of SIST EN ISO 11369:1998 (English text of ISO 11369:1997, scan): the ISO title page, contents, ISO foreword and Clause 1 (scope) with Table 1 on page 1. Outside the sample remain Clauses 2–13 (interferences, references, principle, reagents, apparatus, sampling, procedure, calibration, evaluation, expression of results, test report, precision data) and Annexes A (recovery rates) and B (results of the interlaboratory trial) — we know only their titles from the contents.

ACCORDING TO THE TEXT OF ISO 11369:1997. First edition of 01.08.1997; the standard was prepared by ISO/TC 147 “Water quality”, Subcommittee SC 2 “Physical, chemical and biochemical methods”; Annexes A and B are informative. Scope (1): a method for the determination of organic plant treatment agents in drinking and ground water by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) with UV detection after solid-liquid extraction; it is applicable to selected plant treatment agents and some of their main degradation products (metabolites) in drinking water with a validated reporting limit of about 0.1 µg/l, and limited additional data indicate that it can be extended to 0.05 µg/l; the method may be extended to additional substances and to ground water, provided it is validated for each individual case; the selection of substances in Table 1 reflects knowledge at the time of the interlaboratory trial (1992), and data for some other substances are given in Annex A. Table 1 (name, formula, molar mass, CAS number, family): atrazine (215.7; 001912-24-9; T), chlorotoluron (212.7; 015545-48-9; H), cyanazine (240.7; 021725-46-2; T), desethylatrazine — main degradation product of atrazine (186.6; 006190-65-4; T), diuron (233.1; 000330-54-1; H), hexazinone (252.3; 051235-04-2; T), isoproturon (206.3; 034123-59-6; H), linuron (249.1; 000330-55-2; H), metazachlor (277.8; 067129-08-2; A), methabenzthiazuron (221.3; 018691-97-9; H), metobromuron (259.1; 003060-89-7; H), metolachlor (283.8; 051218-45-2; A), metoxuron (228.7; 19937-59-8; H), monolinuron (214.6; 1746-81-2; H), sebutylazine (228.7; 00728-69-3; T), simazine (201.7; 000122-34-9; T), terbutylazine (229.7; 005915-41-3; T); T — triazines, H — phenylurea herbicides, A — substituted anilides; cyanazine, hexazinone, metobromuron, metoxuron and sebutylazine are not included in the performance data.

STATUS (as of 03.10.2026). The PKN search (query “PN-EN ISO 11369”, 03.10.2026) shows PN-EN ISO 11369:2002 (Polish version, “Wprowadza: EN ISO 11369:1997 [IDT], ISO 11369:1997 [IDT]”) without a withdrawal note and PN-EN ISO 11369:2002 in the English version, withdrawn and replaced by the Polish version. In the iTeh catalogue (read on 03.10.2026) EN ISO 11369:1997 has the status “Published”, stage 90.93 (decision to confirm the standard).

HOW MANY LABORATORIES AND IN WHAT FORM (copy of the accreditation scope database, load up to 17.09.2026, read on 03.10.2026). The number 11369 appears in 5 records at 4 laboratories: AB 005 (2 records), AB 103, AB 213, AB 418. In the current PCA documents (read on 03.10.2026, issues from 18.12.2025 to 17.04.2026) the number appears in 5 rows — 2 at AB 005 and one at each of the others; in each of the four documents the number of page markers equals the number of PDF pages, without repetitions; a search of all 1291 PCA documents downloaded from BIP on 03.10.2026 found no laboratories outside the database copy (17 laboratories in the register have no link to a scope document on BIP). Form “PN-EN ISO 11369:2002” (AB 005, AB 103, AB 213) and “PN-EN ISO 11369” without year together with procedure PB-204 (AB 418). The AB 103 item is suspended: the row is set in bold italics with the reference “*)”, and the footnote of the document (issue No 42 of 18.02.2026) reads “Akredytacja zawieszona na wniosek podmiotu w części zakresu oznaczonego pogrubioną kursywą od 18.02.2026 r. do 17.02.2027 r.” (accreditation suspended at the request of the body in the part of the scope marked in bold italics from 18.02.2026 to 17.02.2027). The other items are not suspended. The “Laboratories” tab (query “PN-EN ISO 11369”) shows all 4 laboratories, including AB 103 with the suspended item — checked with a tab query on the labcoda.pl production server on 03.10.2026.

WHAT THE LABORATORIES TEST (items in PCA). Test object: water and wastewater (AB 005, AB 418 — at AB 418 an item in a flexible accreditation scope), water and water intended for human consumption (AB 103), water, water intended for human consumption and wastewater (AB 213). Characteristic and range: concentration of organonitrogen (triazine) pesticides — atrazine, simazine — in water (0.050–2.0) µg/l and in wastewater (0.10–2.0) µg/l, and concentration of organophosphorus pesticides — chlorfenvinphos — in the same ranges (AB 005, two rows); concentration of plant protection products: isoproturon (0.50–5.0) µg/l, diuron (0.90–9.0) µg/l (AB 103, suspended); concentration of pesticides: atrazine, diuron, isoproturon, simazine, each (0.01–1.00) µg/l (AB 213); concentration of pesticides without listing substances or range (AB 418). Technique: HPLC-UV (AB 005, AB 103), HPLC-DAD (AB 213), HPLC-UV-VIS (AB 418).

WHERE A SEEMINGLY CORRECT RESULT IS EASY TO GET. At the matrix: the scope is drinking water, and ground water and additional substances only after validation for each case (1); wastewater is not named in the scope, while in PCA it appears at AB 005, AB 213 and AB 418. At the substances: Table 1 covers triazines, phenylureas and anilides — chlorfenvinphos (AB 005) is not in it, and the standard allows additional substances after validation (1). At the limit: the validated reporting limit is about 0.1 µg/l, and 0.05 µg/l rests on limited data (1) — the lower range limits of AB 213 (0.01 µg/l) and of AB 005 for water (0.050 µg/l) lie at or below this limit. At precision data: five substances from Table 1 are not covered by them (Table 1, footnote “**”).

WHAT WE DO NOT GIVE. We did not read the interferences, reagents, apparatus, extraction and separation conditions, calibration, calculations, precision data or recoveries from Annex A — they are outside the sample. We do not give permissible pesticide concentrations in water.

Method principle

Plant treatment agents and their degradation products are enriched from the water sample by solid-liquid extraction, then separated by high performance liquid chromatography and detected with a UV detector (1). Details of extraction, separation and calibration are in Clauses 4–10, which are outside the sample read.
