Overview

WHAT THE STANDARD COVERS. The scope from the PKN catalogue card, quoted in full: "Requirements and assembly and acceptance tests are laid down for dry boiler dust collectors installed downstream of coal-fired steam and hot-water boilers. The standard covers: electrostatic precipitators, mechanical dust collectors and multi-stage dust collectors. Principles for calculating the dust collection efficiency and the hydraulic resistance, and methods of determining the error of the dust collection efficiency measurement, are given. An example of apparatus for measuring the dust concentration of flue gas is included." (our translation). What "metoda A" (method A), recorded by all laboratories, is and what clause 3.2.1.4 (AB 412, AB 877) contains — the card does not say.

STATUS (state of the card on 29 September 2026). The card of PN-M-34129:1987 (Polish version) carries the heading "Wycofana" (withdrawn) and the row "Date of withdrawal: 26-09-2012"; there is no "Superseded by" field, there is "Supersedes: PN-M-34129:1972 - Polish version". Edition: published 03-03-1987, 15 pages, PKN technical committee KT 137 (Thermal-Mechanical Equipment in Power Engineering), ICS 27.060.30 and 13.040.40. The PKN search for "PN-M-34129" (29 September 2026) shows three editions — 1987, 1972 ("Boiler dust collectors — Requirements and acceptance tests") and 1963 ("Boiler dedusting equipment — Requirements and acceptance tests") — all labelled "Wycofana"; a successor WE HAVE NOT ESTABLISHED.

HOW MANY LABORATORIES AND IN WHAT FORM (copy of the accreditation scope database, data up to 17 September 2026, read on 28 September 2026). All records of number 34129: 31 entries at 17 laboratories — usually a pair: "Dust concentration" (gravimetric method) and "Dust collection efficiency (from calculations)"; AB 412 has the efficiency only, AB 833 one entry "Dust collection efficiency for dust concentrations". Every record carries the note "metoda A", at AB 412 and AB 877 with "clause 3.2.1.4". Forms: "PN-87/M-34129" (with the year ":1987" or without) — 12 laboratories, "PN-M-34129:1987" — 5 (AB 054, AB 300, AB 886, AB 947, AB 1089). The "Laboratories" tab searches for records BEGINNING with "PN-87/M-34129" and will show 12 laboratories — checked with the tab query on the labcoda.pl production server on 29 September 2026: 12; under "PN-M-34129" — 5. At AB 1028 the dust collection efficiency entry has an empty document field in the copy, but in the PCA scope (issue no. 18 of 17 February 2026) it stands in the same row as the dust concentration, with the same three documents.

CURRENT PCA SCOPES (read on 29 September 2026, issues from 7 July 2025 to 8 September 2026). The entries of 16 laboratories stand in the valid issues, every pair of range numbers from the copy appears in the current document and no entry is suspended; AB 054, AB 746 and AB 950 have footnotes in their scopes on the suspension of other entries, not these. We did not check AB 947 — its page in the PCA Public Information Bulletin has no scope document (read on 29 September 2026). Full records of the reference documents compared with the PCA documents — consistent with the copy.

OBJECT, TECHNIQUE AND RANGES. Object: "Dust collection equipment for waste gases" — 15 laboratories; "Waste gas cleaning installations" — AB 947; "Equipment reducing waste gas pollution" — AB 412. The card speaks of boiler dust collectors downstream of coal-fired boilers; whether the scopes cover collectors of other installations with it — WE DO NOT DECIDE. Technique for the dust concentration: gravimetric method. Ranges in g/m³: lower limits from 0.0001 (AB 877), 0.0002 (AB 782, AB 974), 0.0005 (AB 300) and 0.00064 (AB 833) to 0.001 (nine laboratories), upper limits 2.5 (AB 418), 40 (AB 1028) and 100 (the others); AB 746 and AB 753 record (1.0 – 100000) and (1 – 100000) mg/m³.

ALONGSIDE THIS STANDARD. In every entry with this standard there is also PN-Z-04030-7:1994 (17 laboratories), and at nine also PN-EN 13284-1:2018-02 (AB 300, AB 412, AB 746, AB 782, AB 833, AB 877, AB 974, AB 1004, AB 1028). Dust concentration and dust collection efficiency without PN-M-34129 appear in the copy at two laboratories: AB 1066 (dust collectors for waste gases) — with PN-Z-04030-7:1994 alone, and AB 550 (test object "Urządzenia ochrony powietrza" — air protection equipment, issue no. 33 of 22 September 2026) — with PN-Z-04030-7:1994 or with PN-EN 13284-1:2018-02, in both entries with the procedure IB_SP_15_08 of 30 August 2023. Both these standards have separate entries in this knowledge base.

WHAT WE DO NOT GIVE. We did not have the text of the standard — PKN sells it (15 pages). We do not give the requirements for the collectors, the content of method A or clause 3.2.1.4, the equations for the dust collection efficiency and the hydraulic resistance, the way the measurement error is determined or the example apparatus.

Method principle

According to the card of the standard, the dust collection efficiency of a dry boiler dust collector (electrostatic precipitator, mechanical, multi-stage) is calculated from measurements of the dust concentration of the flue gas; the standard gives the principles for calculating the efficiency and the hydraulic resistance and for determining the error of the efficiency measurement. In accreditation scopes: dust concentration — gravimetric method, dust collection efficiency — "from calculations", always with "method A" and PN-Z-04030-7:1994. We DO NOT GIVE the equations and measurement conditions — we did not have the text of the standard.
