Overview
WHAT THE STANDARD COVERS. Scope from the PKN catalogue card of PN-EN 55035:2017-09 (Polish version), in full (our translation): “NOTE Text marked in blue in this document indicates text aligned with CISPR 32. CISPR 32 contains the appropriate emission requirements above 150 kHz for the equipment within the scope of this document. This document applies to multimedia equipment (MME) as defined in 3.1.24 having a rated r.m.s. AC or DC supply voltage not exceeding 600 V. MME within the scope of CISPR 20 or CISPR 24 is also within the scope of this document. MME with a broadcast reception function is within the scope of this document, see Annex A. MME with non-broadcast wireless interfaces is also within the scope of this document, however, compliance with this document does not require the assessment of the performance of these interfaces. MME intended primarily for professional use is within the scope of this document. MME for which immunity requirements in the frequency range covered by this document are explicitly formulated in other CISPR documents (except CISPR 20 and CISPR 24) are excluded from the scope of this publication. The objectives of this document are: to establish requirements which provide an adequate level of intrinsic immunity so that the MME will operate as intended in its environment in the frequency range 0 kHz to 400 GHz; to specify procedures to ensure the reproducibility of measurements and the repeatability of results. Due to the technology convergence of MME functions, the performance criteria have been determined on a function-oriented rather than equipment-oriented basis”. We read the text in the sample of CISPR 35:2016 from the cover to definition 3.1.27 (port), with the table of contents; we do not have the clauses with requirements, test levels, operating conditions and assessment criteria, or the annexes. Note: EN 55035:2017 introduces CISPR 35:2016 with modifications (“[MOD]” on the card) — the European text is not identical to the international one, and we do not know the modifications.
ACCORDING TO THE TEXT OF CISPR 35:2016 (foreword, introduction, Clauses 1–3.1.27, table of contents). STATUS (PKN catalogue cards as of 02.10.2026). The card of PN-EN 55035:2017-09 (Polish version, published 30-10-2018, 94 pages, price group X) has no “Withdrawn” header: Information and Communication Technologies Sector, KT 104 Electromagnetic Compatibility, ICS 33.100.20, “Introduces: EN 55035:2017 [IDT], CISPR 35:2016 [MOD]”, Directives 2014/30/EU and 2014/53/EU, “Replaces: PN-EN 55020:2012” with its corrigenda and amendments (IS1, IS2, IS3, Ap1, A12). The card of amendment PN-EN 55035:2017-09/A11:2020-09 (English version, published 17-09-2020, 6 pages, price group C) has no “Withdrawn” header, Directive 2014/30/EU; its scope in full: “Amendment to indicate the complete list of standards to be superseded by EN 55035:2017”. The PKN search engine (query “PN-EN 55035”, 02.10.2026) shows the English and Polish versions of the 2017-09 edition, amendment A11:2020-09 and the unrelated standard PN-R-55035:1962. What A11 changes for the result: according to the card — only the list of standards superseded by EN 55035, not the methods or levels.
HOW MANY LABORATORIES AND IN WHAT FORM (copy of the accreditation scope database, data up to 17.09.2026, read 02.10.2026). The number 55035 appears in 15 records of 7 laboratories: AB 003, AB 012, AB 022, AB 171, AB 245, AB 666, AB 693. In the current scopes on the PCA website (read 02.10.2026, issues from 29.01.2026 to 08.09.2026) all cite the 2017-09 edition; AB 003 and AB 012 add amendment A11:2020-09, AB 022 writes “PN-EN IEC 55035:2017-09” (with an IEC element that the designation of this standard does not have), AB 693 points to Clause 5. The “Laboratories” tab (“PN-EN 55035”) shows 6 laboratories — without AB 022 — checked with a query of the tab on the labcoda.pl production server on 02.10.2026.
WHAT THE LABORATORIES TEST (PCA entries). Immunity of multimedia, information technology, office and household equipment to: electrostatic discharge, RF electromagnetic field (AB 693: scanning 80 MHz – 1 GHz; AB 003: 80 MHz – 6 GHz in a SAC chamber), fast transients, surges (AB 012: 230 V AC port), conducted disturbances induced by RF fields, power-frequency magnetic field, voltage dips and short interruptions; the records list next to it the basic standards PN-EN 61000-4-2, -3, -4, -5, -6, -8, -11 (at AB 666 also PN-EN 60601-1-2 for medical devices), and AB 693 also cites PN-EN 55024:2011.
WHERE A SEEMINGLY CORRECT RESULT IS EASY TO GET. With the criteria: the standard assesses immunity by function of the equipment (displaying, receiving, transmitting…), not by type of equipment — a multifunction device in which one function was assessed is not assessed (scope). With editions of basic standards: CISPR 35:2016 cites dated editions IEC 61000-4-5:2005 and 61000-4-6:2008, and its own footnotes say they were replaced in 2014 and 2013 — laboratory scopes list newer editions next to it (e.g. PN-EN 61000-4-5:2014-10, PN-EN IEC 61000-4-6:2024-03); which edition applies when testing to EN 55035 is decided by the European (MOD) text, which we do not have. With the scope: non-broadcast wireless interfaces are not assessed (scope), and equipment for which immunity is specified in other CISPR documents is excluded. With the configuration: equipment with a DC port powered by a dedicated AC/DC converter is tested as AC mains powered equipment (3.1.1).
WHAT WE DO NOT GIVE. We do not have Clause 4 onwards or the annexes: tables of test levels for ports, operating conditions, assessment criteria A, B and C, requirements for the broadcast reception function (Annex A) and the other annexes — so we give no levels (kV, V/m, V), times or criteria; we also do not know the content of the European modifications (MOD) to CISPR 35.
Method principle
The equipment under test operates in a specified mode and configuration, and its ports (enclosure, AC mains, DC network, data and antenna ports) are subjected to disturbances according to the basic standards of the IEC 61000-4 series (electrostatic discharge, RF field, fast transients, surges, conducted disturbances, magnetic field, voltage dips); it is assessed whether each function of the equipment operates according to the performance criterion set for that function.
