USA: a method for forty PFAS across five sample types is in preparation
The environment agency is developing a method for forty PFAS compounds in water, soil, sediment, landfill leachate and fish tissue.
- The direction is clear: one method for many matrices instead of a separate procedure for each sample type.
- For a laboratory it promises a simpler scope of accreditation but also a harder exam — the same method has to work in water and in tissue.
- Landfill leachate and fish tissue are the most demanding matrices; including them shows where environmental PFAS control is heading.
