USA: one PFAS method for wastewater, soil, sludge and tissue
The environment agency has a validated method 1633A for PFAS in aqueous samples, solids, biosolids and tissue — by liquid chromatography with tandem mass spectrometry.
- It is the first validated method covering wastewater, surface water, groundwater and soils at once — each matrix used to have its own route.
- For a laboratory that means one entry in the scope of accreditation instead of several, but also one set of quality requirements for every matrix.
- The agency is working on the next step: a method covering forty PFAS compounds in water, soil, sediment, landfill leachate and fish tissue.
