Poland reshuffles laboratory work across sanitary inspection stations
From 1 January 2026 a new list of sanitary-epidemiological stations performing laboratory tests applies, split into seven areas including water, food and chemicals.
- The health ministry regulation of 23 October 2025 replaced the 2010 list and assigns tests to specialised centres instead of spreading them across every station.
- The seven areas are: biological pathogens, water, environment and workplace, food, food contact materials, radiation hygiene, and chemicals and cosmetics.
- The reason for the change: none of the sixteen regional stations held the full range of competence, so part of the work had to be subcontracted anyway.
