New technical conditions for railway structures in Poland
The regulation of the Minister of Infrastructure of 17 September 2026 (Journal of Laws 2026 item 1225) sets the technical conditions for railway structures and their siting. It applies to design, construction and reconstruction.
- It is issued under Article 7(2)(2) of the Construction Law and was published on 18 September 2026.
- The definition of a railway structure covers standard-, broad- and narrow-gauge tracks, railway earthworks, bridges, viaducts, culverts, retaining structures, ramps, platforms, level crossings and passages as well as traction power supply and traffic control equipment — objects that require soil, concrete, steel and track geometry testing.
- The rules do not apply to tramways, in-plant transport tracks, cable transport installations, ski lifts or tracks narrower than 300 mm. The draft was notified to the European Commission on 18 May 2026 under number 2026/0247/PL.
