Radiation situation in Poland in Q3 2026: dose rate 39–124 nSv/h (mean 73.8), caesium-137 in milk 0.57 Bq/dm³ on average, in air 0.37 µBq/m³ — public exposure only a fraction of a per cent of the 1 mSv annual dose limit
In the Polish official gazette Monitor Polski of 3 November 2026 (item 1082), the President of Poland’s National Atomic Energy Agency (PAA) published the results of radioactive contamination measurements from monitoring stations and units for the third quarter of 2026: dose rate from 39 to 124 nSv/h, mean 73.8 nSv/h; caesium-137 in milk from <0.01 to <2.00 Bq/dm³ (mean 0.57 Bq/dm³) and in air from <0.09 to <1.30 µBq/m³ (mean 0.37 µBq/m³). According to the communication, public exposure to artificial radioactive isotopes in the environment and food remains very low.
- The communication of the PAA President of 30 October 2026 was issued under Article 81 of the Atomic Law Act of 29 November 2000 (Journal of Laws 2026, items 1 and 1097). It summarises the results of the stations and units measuring radioactive contamination in Poland in the third quarter of 2026.
- Dose rate: from 39 to 124 nSv/h (nanosievert per hour), mean 73.8 nSv/h.
- Caesium Cs-137 in milk: from <0.01 to <2.00 Bq/dm³ (becquerel per cubic decimetre), mean 0.57 Bq/dm³. Caesium Cs-137 in air: from <0.09 to <1.30 µBq/m³ (microbecquerel per cubic metre), mean 0.37 µBq/m³.
- According to the communication, the Cs-137 content of air and milk is the basic indicator of radioactive contamination of environmental materials and foodstuffs by artificial radioactive isotopes.
- PAA’s conclusion: exposure of members of the public caused by artificial radioactive isotopes present in the environment and food remains very low — only a fraction of a per cent of the dose limit for members of the public of 1 mSv per year.
