Lead in wireless speakers: three of twenty models above the limit
Between March and July 2026 Poland’s Trade Inspection tested 20 models of wireless speakers for lead, mercury, cadmium, chromium and bromine. In three of them the lead content exceeded 1,500 mg/kg against a permitted 1,000 mg/kg.
- The checks were carried out by the regional inspectorates in Białystok, Katowice, Kielce, Łódź, Opole and Rzeszów at 16 points of sale; 19 of the 20 models were made in China and one in Poland.
- The laboratory screened each product by X-ray fluorescence spectrometry at 10 points and determined the substance content according to PN-EN 62321-3-1:2014-08.
- Besides the lead exceedances, the inspectors found two formal non-compliances — an incorrect declaration of conformity and missing manufacturer and importer details; in total 4 of the 20 models were questioned.
- For the three products with excess lead the Inspection will ask the UOKiK President to open administrative proceedings, and the products will be withdrawn from sale.
