Camping gas stoves: 1 of 16 models with a lower heat input than declared, 12 with marking or documentation faults
Between March and May 2026 Poland’s Trade Inspection checked 16 models of camping gas stoves, and a laboratory tested them to PN-EN 521+AC:2019-12 or PN-EN 17476+A1:2022-06, depending on the design. In one model the actual nominal heat input was lower than the manufacturer declared, which the report links to a fire risk.
- The checks were carried out by the inspectorates in Białystok, Gdańsk, Gorzów Wielkopolski, Katowice, Kraków and Łódź at wholesalers and retailers, including large-format stores; 13 models came from China, 2 from Estonia and 1 from Poland.
- The laboratory checked combustion (whether the gas burns stably without excessive emission of harmful combustion products), heat input, tightness of the gas circuit, stability of the appliance and safety at high temperature — including whether pressure rises dangerously in the gas system and whether the cartridge or gas container overheats.
- Formal non-conformities affected 12 of the 16 models (9 had more than one): the declaration of conformity (7), the EU type-examination certificate (4), technical documentation (2) and CE marking (1), missing product identification (4) or manufacturer details (3), and instructions that were faulty (5) or missing (3).
- For 6 of the non-compliant appliances the Trade Inspection will ask the President of UOKiK to open proceedings, and in 6 cases of formal non-conformity the businesses took corrective action. The checks were based on Regulation (EU) 2016/426 on appliances burning gaseous fuels.
