Solid fuel boilers in the laboratory: all 10 models met ecodesign requirements for efficiency and emissions
Between June and October 2025 Poland’s Trade Inspection checked 10 models of solid fuel boilers rated up to 500 kW, and a testing laboratory verified the declared seasonal space heating energy efficiency and the seasonal emissions of particulate matter, organic gaseous compounds, carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxides. The tests found no irregularities; in 2 models the declaration of conformity had been drawn up incorrectly.
- The checks were carried out by the inspectorates in Bydgoszcz, Kielce, Warsaw and Poznań at 4 retail shops and 6 wholesalers; 9 models came from Poland and 1 from Turkey.
- The basis was Commission Regulation (EU) 2015/1189 on ecodesign requirements for solid fuel boilers; nitrogen oxides were expressed as nitrogen dioxide equivalent.
- Inspectors also checked CE marking, declarations of conformity, technical documentation, user instructions and information published online, including technical parameters, warnings and rules for dismantling and recycling the boiler at the end of its life.
- For the 2 models with an incorrect declaration of conformity, corrective action supervised by the Trade Inspection was ordered and has already been completed in one case. The report advises businesses to have, among other things, a test report confirming the declared parameters and an energy label that meets the requirements.
