Poland’s Chief Inspectorate of Environmental Protection bought 154 instruments for state environmental monitoring from July to September 2026: NOx, SO2, CO, O3 and BTEX analysers, PM10/PM2.5 samplers and automatic PM monitors
On 1 October 2026 Poland’s Chief Inspectorate of Environmental Protection (GIOŚ) reported that under the project “Development and modernisation of equipment for air quality testing and support for air quality assessments” it bought 154 measuring instruments for the State Environmental Monitoring in the third quarter of 2026.
- The purchases include gaseous pollutant analysers: 17 for NOx, 13 for SO2, 10 for CO and 15 for ozone, as well as 20 hydrocarbon (BTEX) analysers and 11 multi-gas calibrators with zero-air generators.
- For particulate matter, 25 LVS PM10/PM2.5 samplers and 25 automatic monitors for continuous simultaneous measurement of PM10 and PM2.5 were bought, plus 2 extractors for dust sample preparation. The inspectorate also bought 13 containers for automatic monitoring stations (2 measuring 2.5 × 3.0 m and 11 measuring 2.5 × 4.0 m) and 3 mobile monitoring stations.
- Reference methods are set by the Polish regulation on the assessment of levels of substances in the air (consolidated text, Journal of Laws 2024 item 870): PN-EN 14211:2013-02 for NO2 and NOx (chemiluminescence), PN-EN 14212:2013-02 for SO2 (ultraviolet fluorescence), PN-EN 14625:2013-02 for ozone (ultraviolet photometry), PN-EN 14626:2013-02 for CO (NDIR) and PN-EN 14662-1, -2 and -3 for benzene.
- The reference method for PM10 and PM2.5 is gravimetry according to PN-EN 12341:2014-07. Automatic monitors are an equivalent method: comparability with the reference method is demonstrated according to PN-EN 16450:2017-05, and their results are back-corrected to match the reference method.
