Price list for tests in the GIJHARS laboratories: 224 items, from PLN 35 to PLN 2,283
On 11 September 2026 Poland’s Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development sent for consultation a draft regulation on the costs of tests carried out in the laboratories of the Chief Inspectorate of Agricultural and Food Quality (GIJHARS) at the request of public bodies. The annex prices 224 tests — from visual checks to isotope analyses and pesticide residues.
- The costs cover tests in official controls under Regulation (EU) 2017/625 and tests ordered by courts, prosecutors and other bodies named in the Act on the commercial quality of agri-food products; the legal basis is its Article 32(3h), as amended on 17 July 2026.
- The cheapest items cost PLN 35 (including visual detection of carrageenan, the Lugol starch test and a leak-tightness check); the most expensive, at PLN 2,283, is detection of plant sterols in milk fat by the GC reference method with preparation of sterol digitonides.
- Pesticide residues (GC-MS/MS, LC-MS/MS) and identification of hop varieties by multiplex PCR with capillary electrophoresis cost PLN 1,500 each, the isotope ratio in honey after HPLC analysis PLN 1,300 and sensory assessment of olive oil PLN 850.
- According to the explanatory memorandum, the amounts reflect the actual cost of the analyses, rounded to full zloty, and go to the state budget; the regulation is to enter into force the day after publication, and the ministry asked for comments within 3 days because of the urgency of the draft.
