Lithuania merges accreditation and standardisation into one agency
From January 2026 the national accreditation bureau and the standardisation department work as one institution — the Lithuanian Accreditation and Standardisation Agency.
- A laboratory now has a single desk: the standards it tests against and the accreditation confirming its competence sit in the same institution.
- The economy ministry justifies the change with a lighter administrative load and faster, better coordinated processes.
- The change coincided with the tidy-up of accreditation worldwide: from 1 January 2026 one new structure took over the functions of the previous global organisations.
