Polish accreditation body opens up fire classification and EXAP reports
A laboratory testing reaction to fire and fire resistance can now hold classification and extended application of results in its accreditation scope. The condition: its own accredited fire test on that product.
- Communication no. 480 of the Polish Centre for Accreditation, dated 4 August 2026, brings into Poland the position of the EA Laboratory Committee agreed with the EGOLF organisation.
- Classification to the EN 13501 series and EXAP assessment are treated as opinions and interpretations under EN ISO/IEC 17025 — not as a separate kind of activity.
- A classification report or an EXAP report may be issued only by the laboratory that itself carried out at least one accredited fire test on the product assessed.
- DIAP is the direct field of application of a result, following straight from the test standard. EXAP extends it to product variants on the basis of extra tests, measurements and calculations; the report format is set out in EN 15725.
- For the laboratory the work sits in the management system: a procedure for issuing opinions, competence criteria for the signatory, control over calculations and over the test data feeding them.
- The construction product manufacturer gains clarity on what the document is worth — a classification report with no testing behind it stops being evidence.
