Italy: the stricter PFAS limit in water postponed to June 2026
The sum of regulated PFAS drops from 0.50 to 0.10 µg/l. The budget law moved the 12 January 2026 date to June, while the accreditation requirement for laboratories stays unchanged.
- The Italian decree implementing the EU directive requires PFAS determinations to be done by laboratories accredited to UNI CEI EN ISO/IEC 17025:2018 — the delay does not change that.
- The limit tightens fivefold, so for some laboratories this is less a new parameter than a need to lower the method limit of quantification.
- The postponement concerns the compliance threshold itself; monitoring and reporting duties continue on the existing schedule.
