IEC 62828-1:2026 sets common reference conditions and test procedures for industrial and process measurement transmitters, whatever quantity they measure.
- A transmitter converts a physical quantity into a signal — the reliability of measurement across an installation depends on how it behaves.
- The common part describes reference conditions: temperature, power supply and surroundings in which a test is comparable at all.
- Without common conditions, catalogue data from different manufacturers cannot be compared — the standard removes exactly that problem.
- For calibration and instrument testing laboratories it is the starting point for the specific tests described in later parts of the series.
