United Kingdom: a new edition of requirements for food and feed control laboratories
Document LAB 33, second edition of December 2025, sets out how the UK accreditation body assesses official laboratories and national reference laboratories.
- It is the national complement to ISO/IEC 17025 for laboratories working within the official food and feed control system.
- The document orders the requirements for national reference laboratories — bodies that maintain methods and support the others.
- For a laboratory outside the official system it is a reference point too: it shows what is expected of testing done for enforcement.
