France tightens the requirements for asbestos laboratories
Revision 15 of the reference document for asbestos laboratories applies from 1 March 2026 and covers testing, calibration and sampling.
- The document is the national complement to NF EN ISO/IEC 17025:2017 — it sets out how the accreditation body reads the standard for asbestos work.
- The changes cover three linked activities at once: testing, calibration and sampling, so a laboratory has to review the whole chain, not only the analysis.
- The revision was published in December 2025, and the entry date gave laboratories a quarter to adapt procedures and training.
