Gas appliances (Regulation 2016/426): six new harmonised standards — EN 30-2-1:2024 (energy use of gas cookers), EN 88-2 and EN 88-3 (pressure regulators up to 500 kPa), EN 125 (thermoelectric flame supervision), EN 15502-2-2:2024 (type B1 boilers up to 70 kW), EN 16304 (automatic vent valves) and a corrigendum to EN 15502-2-1
Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2025/1793, published on 11 September 2025 and in force from the day of publication, amends Decision (EU) 2024/2944 listing harmonised standards for appliances burning gaseous fuels. The standards result from a review requested from CEN and CENELEC by Decision C(2023) 4789 of 20 July 2023, intended to check whether the standards under mandate M/BC/CEN/06-89 of 29 April 1990 still reflect the state of the art against the essential requirements of Annex I to Regulation 2016/426.
- New list entries: 2a — EN 30-2-1:2024 Domestic cooking appliances burning gas, Part 2-1: rational use of energy, general; 3a — EN 88-2:2022+A1:2024 pressure regulators for inlet pressures above 50 kPa up to and including 500 kPa; 3b — EN 88-3:2022+A1:2024 electronic pressure and/or flow rate regulators for inlet pressures up to 500 kPa; 3c — EN 125:2022+A1:2024 thermoelectric flame supervision devices; 14a — EN 15502-2-2:2024 central heating boilers of type B1; 14b — EN 16304:2022+A1:2024 automatic vent valves.
- Corrigendum: row 14 now covers EN 15502-2-1:2022+A1:2023 together with corrigendum EN 15502-2-1:2022+A1:2023/AC:2024 (type C boilers and type B2, B3 and B5 boilers with a nominal heat input not exceeding 1 000 kW). The Commission considered the corrigendum necessary for the correct application of the standard as a harmonised standard. All references are kept in one act — the Annex to Decision 2024/2944.
- EN 30-2-1:2024 according to the EVS record: valid from 31 December 2024, replacing the 2015 edition; it specifies requirements and test methods for the rational use of energy of gas burning domestic cooking appliances within the scope of Clause 1 of EN 30-1-1:2021+A1:2023. For laboratories testing gas cookers, compliance with it gives a presumption of conformity with the corresponding requirements of Regulation 2016/426.
- EN 15502-2-2:2024 according to the EVS record: valid from 1 August 2024, replacing the 2014 edition; it covers requirements and test methods for classification and marking of boilers with atmospheric burners, including fan-assisted ones, of types B11, B11BS, B12, B12BS, B13 and B13BS — with a nominal heat input (net calorific value) not exceeding 70 kW, for gases of the three families at the pressures in EN 437:2021, with a heat transfer fluid temperature up to 105 °C and a water circuit operating pressure up to 6 bar, declared as low-temperature or standard boilers.
