RED: level probing radars (LPR, TLPR) — EN 302 729-1 V3.1.1 and the new EN 305 550-6 V1.2.1 (116–250 GHz) — and EN 300 220-2 V3.3.1, EN 302 480 V3.1.1 and EN 303 659 V1.1.1 in the list of harmonised standards; old versions until 11 June 2027
Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2025/2499, published on 11 December 2025, adds to the list of harmonised standards for Radio Equipment Directive 2014/53/EU (Implementing Decision (EU) 2022/2191) two new ETSI standards for short range devices and three revised ones, including the standard for level probing radars operating with UWB technology. The deletion of the rows with the old versions applies from 11 June 2027.
- New standards: EN 303 659 V1.1.1 — short range devices in data networks in the 865–868 MHz and 915–919.4 MHz bands (row 182); EN 305 550-6 V1.2.1 — short range devices 40–260 GHz, part 6: tank level probing radar (TLPR) and level probing radar (LPR) in the 116–148.5 GHz, 167–182 GHz and 231.5–250 GHz ranges (row 183). In the Polish version of the title of this standard two ranges are written „od 167 GHz to 182 GHz” and „od 231,5 GHz to 250 GHz” — with the English “to”.
- Revised: EN 300 220-2 V3.3.1 (short range devices 25–1000 MHz with power levels up to 500 mW e.r.p., non-specific radio equipment; was V3.1.1), EN 302 480 V3.1.1 (mobile communication on board aircraft, MCOBA; was V2.2.1) and EN 302 729-1 V3.1.1 (LPR in the 6–8.5 GHz, 24.05–26.5 GHz, 57–64 GHz and 75–85 GHz ranges, for strictly vertical downward installation only; was EN 302 729 V2.1.1). A corrigendum of 7 September 2026 changes the row number of the latter standard from “125a” to “121a”; a corrigendum of 24 July 2026 appeared only in the Spanish and Hungarian versions.
- Scope of EN 302 729-1 V3.1.1 according to the ETSI text: technical requirements, limits and test methods for LPR for strictly vertical downward installation, outdoors and indoors; the equipment consists of a combined transmitter and receiver with an integral or dedicated antenna from the same manufacturer — equipment intended for antennas from third-party manufacturers is not covered. Adopted on 12 May 2025; date of withdrawal of conflicting national standards (dow) — 28 February 2027.
- Transition: the deletion of rows 10, 106 and 125 (old versions) was deferred to give manufacturers time to adapt their equipment — point 1 of the annex applies from 11 June 2027. For laboratories testing level probing radars and short range devices, the new versions confer a presumption of conformity from 11 December 2025, and until 11 June 2027 the previous ones as well.
