Interban — narasin with diclazuril in one coccidiostat for chickens: 50 + 1 mg/kg feed, determination by HPLC with post-column derivatisation or LC-MS/MS (EN 17299), narasin MRL 50 µg/kg
Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2026/2061 of 17 September 2026, published on 18 September, authorises until 8 October 2036 the preparation Interban (Elanco GmbH) for chickens for fattening and chickens reared for laying: 50 mg narasin and 1 mg diclazuril per kg of complete feed. Narasin is produced by Streptomyces strain NRRL B-67771; EFSA considered the MRLs in force for both substances protective for consumers with a zero-day withdrawal period.
- Methods: narasin in the additive — HPLC with post-column derivatisation and photometric detection (HPLC-PCD-UV–Vis), in premixtures — the same under EN ISO 14183, in feed — EN ISO 14183 or LC-MS/MS under EN 17299, in tissues — LC-MS/MS under AOAC 2011.24. Diclazuril in the additive — HPLC-UV, in premixtures — HPLC-UV under Regulation (EC) No 152/2009, in feed — HPLC-UV under 152/2009 or LC-MS/MS under EN 17299.
- The preparation contains 90.0–110.0 g/kg narasin and 1.8–2.2 g/kg diclazuril; in five batches — 99.4 g/kg (98.6–100.3) and 2.0 g/kg (2.0–2.1). Granulated narasin contained 141 mg/g (specification ≥ 100), of which 99 % narasin A (≥ 85 %); in three batches of the preparation lead was 4.3–4.6 mg/kg and arsenic 1.9–2.0 mg/kg.
- Residues: for narasin the liver is the target tissue, but skin/fat was retained for control purposes, with narasin as marker residue; diclazuril accounts for 70–90 % of total residues in all tissues tested. The narasin MRL is 50 µg/kg in all wet tissues; for diclazuril the limits of Regulation (EU) No 37/2010 apply.
- According to EFSA the preparation is not a skin irritant but should be considered a skin and respiratory sensitiser; EFSA could not conclude on eye irritation for lack of data. The label warns: dangerous for equines, turkeys and rabbits, an ionophore contraindicated with certain medicines including tiamulin; the holder monitors Eimeria spp. resistance to both substances.
