Three GMO decisions: two soybeans and a maize — with PCR methods and reference materials
The Official Journal of 25 September 2026 carried decisions of 23 September authorising soybean MON 94313 and soybean GMB151 × DAS-44406-6 and renewing the authorisation of maize MON 87460. Each specifies a quantitative PCR detection method validated by the EU reference laboratory and the reference materials.
- Soybean MON 94313 received the unique identifier MON-94313-8 (Decision (EU) 2026/2117); detection uses an event-specific quantitative real-time PCR method, and reference materials AOCS 0222-B (for MON-94313-8) and 0906-A (for the non-modified counterpart) are available from the American Oil Chemists’ Society.
- For soybean GMB151 × DAS-44406-6 (Decision (EU) 2026/2112), the quantitative PCR methods validated for the single events BCS-GM151-6 and DAS-444Ø6-6 apply, further verified for the stacked soybean.
- The renewed authorisation for maize MON 87460 (Decision (EU) 2026/2121) specifies a quantitative real-time PCR method and reference materials AOCS 0709-A and AOCS 0406-A.
- All three decisions apply for 10 years from notification; products other than food must bear the words “not for cultivation”, and the validated methods are published by the EU reference laboratory at the JRC.
