Ecodesign: standby power is measured after the last brewing cycle in all coffee machines, and for tumble dryers market surveillance verifies energy and time with a 6 % tolerance, off mode — 0.10 W, noise — 2 dB
Commission Regulation (EU) 2025/2262, published on 20 November 2025, amends Regulation (EU) 2023/826 on off-mode and standby power of household and office equipment and Regulation (EU) 2023/2533 on the ecodesign of tumble dryers. It clarifies definitions, the measurement conditions for coffee machines, the verification procedure for tumble dryers and the list of spare parts.
- The measurement condition in Annex IV to Regulation 2023/826 now covers all household coffee machines, not only networked equipment: the measurement is made after the last brewing cycle or after descaling, automatic cleaning or any other user action, unless an alarm requiring intervention has been triggered. Under Regulation 2023/826 the power management function switches the machine to standby, off mode or an equivalent state at the latest after 5 min (drip filter with insulated jug), 40 min (non-insulated jug) or 30 min (others).
- Regulation 2023/826 clarifies the definition of a “motorised building element” (excluding ventilation devices, with a motor or actuator and a control unit), adds a definition of “control unit” (sensors supplied from the same mains point are part of it) and narrows “grinders” to kitchen grinders for food processing.
- Tumble dryers: the average final moisture content of the “eco” programme was removed from the information requirements and calculation methods, because a declared 0 % could lead to over-drying of textiles — it is calculated according to harmonised standards, and the verification keeps the validity criterion of < 1.5 %. Energy consumption, programme duration and condensation efficiency are measured simultaneously over 3 full-load and 4 partial-load cycles.
- Table 2 of verification tolerances: energy (Edry, Egdry), programme duration and condensation efficiency Ct — 6 %; off mode Po — 0.10 W; standby modes Psm and Pds — 10 % above 1.00 W or 0.10 W at 1.00 W and below; noise — 2 dB re 1 pW. A motor capacitor was added to the list of spare parts; parts must be replaceable without proprietary tools.
