Germany reorders flexible scopes of accreditation into categories A, B and C
A single system across all accreditation standards replaces the old I, II and III labels. A laboratory makes technical changes within its category on its own, without asking each time.
- A flexible scope allows changes to the technical range — adding a matrix, modifying a method — without issuing a new certificate for every change.
- The former categories III, I and II are replaced by the letters A, B and C; the new split covers all accreditation standards, not only testing laboratories.
- Useful for planning: existing scopes stay valid and the switch happens at the next accreditation change, with no hard deadline.
