DAkkS becomes a full member of Global ACI — German accreditation joins the arrangement of the ILAC and IAF successor
On 23 September 2026 Global ACI announced that Germany’s national accreditation body DAkkS has joined it as a Full Member and signatory of the Global ACI Multilateral Recognition Arrangement (MRA). Global ACI, established on 1 January 2026, is the successor to ILAC and IAF.
- According to the announcement, DAkkS is recognised under the MRA for multiple scopes, including testing, calibration, inspection, management systems certification, product certification, certification of persons, validation/verification, proficiency testing provision and reference material production.
- DAkkS notified its intention to join with a letter of intent on 27 December 2025, on the recommendation of the German Accreditation Advisory Board (Deutscher Akkreditierungsbeirat); at the Global ACI meetings in Prague (20–26 April 2026) its delegation still took part as an observer.
- In a press release of 29 April 2026 DAkkS stated that an official launch of the Global ACI brand for use by accredited bodies was not planned before the General Assembly in Panama in October 2026, and that continued use of the ILAC and IAF logos was to remain possible until further notice, also for non-member accreditation bodies that had submitted a letter of intent.
- Global ACI is to organise worldwide peer evaluation of accreditation bodies; it says DAkkS’s membership supports continued cooperation and recognition of accredited conformity assessment results through the Global ACI MRA.
