China: new quality control standards for food testing laboratories

From 1 March 2026 new editions of laboratory quality control standards apply — separately for physico-chemical and for microbiological food testing.

Standards GB/T 27404-2026 and GB/T 27405-2026 were issued on 28 January 2026 by the national market regulator and the standardisation committee.
The changes touch daily laboratory work: method validation, intermediate checks of equipment and sample handling rules.
Implementation calls for training the whole staff — the new edition changes the wording of procedures, not just the standard number on the cover.
