China: CNAS revises the rules for describing the accreditation scope of textile laboratories
On 23 September 2026 CNAS released for consultation a draft new edition of document CNAS-EL-07 on describing accreditation scopes in textile testing. The changes cover, among others, technical textiles and how fibre content in product standards is expressed; comments are due by 23 October 2026.
- The current edition, CNAS-EL-07:2020, has been in force for six years; the revision follows the new edition of CNAS-EL-03:2023 and changes in standards, referenced documents and examples in the textile sector, and in 2024 the fibre and textile committee surveyed laboratories and assessors.
- The draft changes the classification of test objects — adding technical (industrial) textiles and their subdivision — and introduces requirements for describing tests and parameters for these products and for product standards.
- Examples in table form were added, the years of the cited standards were updated, and the description of standards not covered by accreditation and the requirements for expressing fibre content in product standards were clarified.
- Lists A and B of standards outside the accreditation scope and annexes A and B were deleted; a table of differences between the 2020 edition and the new one accompanies the draft.
